Planting Seeds: The Importance Of Giving Back and Being #RidiculousGood / by Lainney Dizon

Guess what? Life is not about you. Life is about impact and legacy. Life is about how you can use your talents to be a blessing to others around you and how deeply of an impact you can make in your community. Dizon Dreams recently attended Ridiculous Good, a new wave of social-good movements that scale good through action, and we were inspired by how simple it is to do good, give back, and build a community through love.

You can be a blessing to someone today. Right now. You don't need to wait. There's people around you who are waiting for someone like you to be the light in their day.

Last weekend we headed to DTLA to give food to the homeless. Did you know: Los Angeles has the highest rate of homelessness in the nation? From the tall skyscraper million-dollar businesses and buildings in DTLA to the individual just across the street with no roof over their head, it's shocking how accustomed we've become to poverty next to us with our Starbucks cup in our hand. The good news is you can make a difference. Thanks to all who participated in Ridiculous Good, and the founder, Nick Suell for creating a movement centered in love.

Put your "Do Good" cape on and help out in your community. Here are our favorite local charities in Los Angeles you should definitely be supporting:

  • Ridiculous Good - We do good together. The next event will be a toy drive this December. Follow Ridiculous Good on Facebook here for the latest events and see how you can help.
  • #HashtagLunchbag - Living through giving. #HashtagLunchbag is a humanity service movement dedicated to empowering and inspiring humanity to reap the benefits of giving. #HashtagLunchbag create and use bagged lunches, complete with love messages, as a vessel to spread this love and share our experiences to inspire others.that presents the opportunity to feed local communities. RSVP for the next event December 15 here
  • LA Food Bank - Fighting hunger. Giving hope. The LA Food Bank fill 320,000 plates of food for hungry children, families and seniors in Los Angeles. Volunteer, start your own virtual food drink or donate. Every $1 donated provides enough food for 4 meals.
